Exercise Six
I wish I had a snappy title for this exercise. The clown face or the scary face might be descriptive. But even though this exercise might look foolish, it's an effective one for the whole lower face - the mouth, the cheek muscles, even the chin muscle.

I hate taking responsibility for this exercise because it's so weird. It's too bad that Halloween comes just once a year.
My comment after several years of doing this exercise - I take full responsibility for it. It is not weird at all when it's done right. It is the most effective exercise for the lower face and the area under the chin.

Suggestions
This exercise is easy to do but it's not easy to do right. Concentrate on making your face look long by perhaps anchoring it with the firm contraction of the chin muscle. I do it that way while looking in the mirror. It takes a while to get into the right groove with this exercise. Once you get the right rhythm and right movement, though, you'll like it and find it effective.
Some people have also written to me about the usefulness of this exercise. I thought at first it would be just for toning up the facial muscles around the mouth, but many have told me that the exercise targets the cheek muscles (zygomaticus and others) and actually gives a lift to the cheek and the whole lower face.
New Thoughts, New Material
This exercise is much better than my first evaluation of it. When you are doing it right, when you get into the right groove, it really works the cheeks, the mouth, the chin, and the small muscles under the chin. I can see and feel these muscles work as I do about three sets of twenty to twenty-five reps in front of the bathroom mirror. I also think that this exercise is the best one for decreasing the depth of the nasolabial lines and the marionette lines (which I never had). It makes the lower face tight and expressive. The more you do this exercise, the more you'll like it. Forget about what Jack Nicolson is doing. You don't need to exaggerate the movement of the facial muscles.
