Hello there, I'm new to this forum and pretty new to face exercise aswell. I have been doing the mouth/lip exercise and find that those nasolabial folds around my mouth are starting to look more prominent. I was wondering if this is because l'm doing this exercise wrong? I do about 10 for 3 reps, because l don't want to over do it and concentrate on getting the form right. Also l have one other question about forehead lines. I don't really have lines, but l have two bumps (furrows?) over each eyebrow from being a bit of a frowner. These show up pretty badly when l am out in the daylight. Would the forehead exercise be good for smoothing them out a bit? Does anyone know about any exercise that would help? Cheers Laura |

Laura C: Everyone responds differently to facial exercises. People who are naturally lean - a low percentage of body fat - often respond faster, or at least the progress is more visible. People with a high percentage of body fat usually have fat faces. Facial exercise does not reduce fat on the face any more than body exercise reduces fat in specific areas. Spot reduction is a myth. If one has surplus fat on the face, the nasolabial folds might look more prominent. I don't think Exercise Two will will make them more prominent though. You wrote, "I do about 10 for 3 reps..." I don't know what you mean by this. I do high reps stressing good form. And I certainly avoid stretching the mouth. I hope I described the exercise sufficiently on my website. "but l have two bumps (furrows?) over each eyebrow from being a bit of a frowner." If you learn how to do The Scalp Exercise correctly, this will definitely eliminate that problem. When you develop strong occipitalis muscles, your eyebrows will lift thus getting rid of horizontal and vertical lines in your forehead. I know this sounds too good to be true, but I've seen this in even older women who do this eccentric exercise. |

cheers Tom for your fast response, l'm trying to get into the scalp exercise. It's funny, as l have seen people do this on youtube under "moving hair" etc... i'm taking a guess that this is what l am trying to achieve. I'll let you know how l get on. Again cheers, laura ps will keep up the mouth exercise and hopefully everything will sort itself out. |
